Strollin’ Around Disney

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of UPPAbaby. All opinions are 100% mine.

Shannon Jenkins of Upbeat Soles talks about the best theme park and travel stroller and does a review on the UPPAbaby MINU stroller

Happy Thursday loves! Thank goodness it is almost the weekend! So you all know how much we love our theme parks and love bringing Sawyer with us to enjoy them! When we started going to the parks a lot I knew I wanted to invest in an awesome compact stroller. I wanted something that was small, easy to fold up, light, and easy to maneuver. You all know how much I love our UPPAbaby VISTA (you can see my review here) so when I saw that UPPAbaby also had a compact foldable stroller, the MINU, I knew it would be just as amazing! We have gone to Disney multiple times and Universal with our MINU and I could not be happier with this stroller! It rides so smooth because of the all wheel suspension just like their larger strollers and Sawyer loves it as well! He naps so good in this stroller because of the muti position incline. It also has the UV pull down shield for extra sun protection! The basket at the bottom is nice and large and fits our baby bag perfectly along with a small cooler. The one foot break is super easy! Also something most people wouldn’t think of on a stroller but it doesn’t have the bar going across the back wheels like most compact strollers have. We had another compact stroller we used before this one that had the break in the middle of the wheels and Griffin being 6’3 kicked it constantly! This stroller he can push very comfortably! Not to mention this stroller is beautiful and has a full grain leather handle and comes in a few different colors! We got the Jake and I love the black frame with the mélange fabric!

As for the fold, it is super easy! I can even do it while holding Sawyer! All you do is lock the brake, push the lever over with your thumb that is in the middle of the handle, squeeze the button and push the handle down. Super simple! Then there is a shoulder strap at the bottom so you can carry the stroller on your shoulder making it so perfect for travel. The MINU folded up will even fit in most overhead compartments on an airplane. Another amazing thing about this stroller is that it is compatible with our MESA carseat and a few other brands as well with the adapters. All you do it take off the fabric and click on the adapters and boom it becomes a travel system on the go! It also has a From Birth Kit where you can attach a Bassinet-like solution. We also have the travel bag that makes it super easy to store and travel with since you can wear it as a backpack! Overall we are super happy with UPPAbaby MINU for a theme park stroller and travel stroller! We love how compatible the stroller is and we can wait to use it on our first trip next month! <3

Slay All Day

Shannon Jenkins styles a cute baby boy halloween outfit with Slay All Day Michael Myers romper and skeleton baby moccasins

Happy Thursday babes! Today is our Friday so I cannot wait to get this weekend started! I am coming at you with some more adorable Sawyer pumpkin Patch pictures because they were too cute not to share! I actually made his romper on my cricut and I love how it came out! I have always been a huge Halloween fan (nothing better than a classic horror movie!) so when I saw a similar shirt I knew I needed to make it into a romper for Sawyer for Halloween! I found the romper for under $11 on Amazon and his little leather moccs for under $14 on Amazon as well! Such a steal! I hope you all have an awesome weekend! <3

The weather was beautiful and we even got to take him on his first hay ride! I hope you all have a wonderful start to your week! <3

Family Pictures 2019

Shannon Jenkins of Upbeat Soles posts her family beach pictures with a baby and beach nursing pictures with Chicwish mustard maxi dress

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Our’s was pretty uneventful, which was kind of nice! Last weekend we took some family pictures and I just love how they came out! So sorry in advance for the major oversharing haha! My friend was kind of enough to snap the ones of the whole family for us and then ones with just us and Sawyer we took of each other. I have taken so many pictures for clients at this spot that I couldn’t wait to finally snap some of my own family here now that we are a family of 3! We got a beautiful sunset too! This pleated mustard dress was perfect and had just the perfect amount of flow. I always suggest maxi dresses to clients for their pictures because they give them so much more movement! I hope you all have a wonderful start to your week! <3

Sawyer’s 1/2 Birthday

Shannon Jenkins of Upbeat Soles does a half birthday cake smash photoshoot on the beach with a shark theme for her 6 month baby boy

Happy Hump Day everyone! So today my baby is 6 months old and I CANNOT believe he is a 1/2 year!! I feel like it was just the other day I was in the hospital holding him for the first time and slightly freaking out that we were parents! So much has changed in the past 6 months, but we wouldn’t want it any other way! Sawyer has brought us so much joy and we cannot get enough of him! His little personality gets bigger and bigger each day and his big smiles melt me! He full on belly laughs, can sit up on his own, falls asleep on his own, army crawls, rolls everywhere, and will be starting solids soon, which I am excited and terrified for haha! I wanted to do something fun for his 1/2 birthday so I set up this little photoshoot at the beach last weekend. We did a shark theme since his 1/2 birthday happens to be during Shark Week! Since he hasn’t started solids yet I wanted his cake to not have much sugar in it so I used a recipe from Pinterest here, which uses oat flour and mostly fruit. As for the icing I made a drizzle with cream cheese, apple juice, and natural food coloring. He really liked the icing but didn’t even try the cake before getting mad that he was super messy haha! We have loved every second of these 6 months with our little guy and I cannot wait to watch him grow even more! Love you to pieces Sawyer Grey! <3

Checkers

Shannon Jenkins of Upbeat Soles styles a cute boy mommy and me outfit with baby band tee, camo shorts, baby Vans, and George Hat

Happy Friday eve babes! Can I get an Amen for it almost being the weekend?! So today my little guy is joining me for a little mommy and me outfit! Who says mommy and me outfits can only be with little girls?! I swear I will match him until he is too embarrassed to go into public with me! haha! Can you even handle those little Vans?! They are just so cute so naturally I had to get a pair so we can match! I paired his little Vans with a black and white Nirvana tee and threw on his camo shorts. As for his accessories he’s wearing his favorite trucker hat! We LOVE George Hat’s, I mean tiny baby hats, how can you resist! As for me I threw on a camo tee (that I actually stole from Griffin’s closet) and paired it with an acid wash black skirt. I finished the look with a black hat and sunnies. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! <3

Why I Chose to Give My Baby a Probiotic: A Honest Review of Evivo

This post is sponsored by Evivo, all opinions are 100% my own

Shannon Jenkins of Upbeat Soles does a Evivo probiotic review and talks about the importance of baby's gut health and how B. Infantis reduces bad bacteria

Happy Thursday everyone! We are in the home stretch to the weekend! Today I am talking all about baby gut health and why I chose to give Sawyer a probiotic. If you follow me on stories I have mentioned multiple times Sawyer is a VERY fussy baby! We tried gas drops, putting him to bed earlier, and even little straws you stick up their rear end to relieve gas (that was fun!). I knew he suffered from gas because he had bad toots constantly and my doctor recommend I try him on a probiotic. I found some over the counter ones, but they didn’t seem to be doing much so I did a little research and came across Evivo. Evivo is the ONLY clinically proven probiotic. Once I started doing more research on Evivo I found out that 9 out of 10 babies are lacking B. Infantis which is a good bacteria that helps protect babies gut by helping digest nutrients in breast milk and reduce bad bacteria. In fact, Evivo is clinically proven to reduce 80% of bad bacteria in a baby’s gut which has SO many health benefits! By restoring your baby’s gut in their first 6 months of life it can reduce their risks of colic, eczema, allergies, diabetes, and obesity!

They make it so easy to give to your baby as well! When you get the starter kit it comes with a month supply in individual packets, a small mixing cup, and syringe. Then you mix one of the packets once a day with about 5ml of breast milk (Evivo is only clinically proven for breast milk but has heard success stories with formula) in the cup, and then suck the breast milk mixture into the syringe and then give it to baby. Sawyer actually loves it too and gobbles it right up each time! Just a few tips that I have found  to make the process easier: Use warm breast milk (it dissolves better and Sawyer likes it better warm) and feed baby before giving them Evivo. While feeding use a Haakaa pump (or other breast milk catcher) on opposite breast while feeding to catch extra let down and use that for the mixture after baby is fed. That way there is no pumping involved! Because this mama hates pumping haha!

Now that you know all the amazing benefits of Evivo, how did it benefit Sawyer? Well his toots are finally under control ya’ll haha! His bowel movements have become super regular (almost like clock work) and his dry skin he had before is completely gone! The best part is that he has almost doubled his feeding time! Sawyer is not a very good eater and is less than 10% on the growth chart and my doctor wanted me to start giving him a formula bottle a day to have him gain some weight and he absolutely refuses to take formula. So the fact that it has helped his tummy so much that he is eating more is huge for us! Also not to mention all the benefits it is giving him for his future! I highly recommend Evivo if you are looking to help with your baby’s gut health and overall health! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! <3

Sawyer’s Newborn Pictures

Shannon Jenkins of Upbeat Soles shares her son's newborn pictures to give newborn picture ideas and inspiration and show boy nursery decor ideas

Happy Friday Eve loves! Who is ready for the weekend?! Definitely this girl! This cold has been killing me! It has been lingering around, but I am finally feeling better and ready to get out of the house this weekend! I am excited to FINALLY be sharing Sawyer’s newborn pictures! I had one of my friends that used to do photography come over and take them, but I edited them and then we took the posed newborn pictures ourself so it took me awhile to edit them all with a newborn! Also I picked WAY too many to edit haha! The culling process is so much harder when it is your own baby let me tell you! You love every single picture haha! So sorry for the major over sharing, but I just love these pictures so much! It’s crazy how little he is in these pictures too! He has changed so much already! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! <3

Sawyer Grey’s Birth Story

Happy Thursday babes! All I have to say is I am so ready for the weekend! So I FINALLY sat down to write the story of the most amazing (and tiring) day of my life, when Sawyer was born! I have been wanting to write this down for you and myself before I forget all the small details! And let me tell you there were a lot of details since I had such a long labor! About 27 hours to be exact! I am sorry but this might be one of my longest posts to date, but I will try to keep it as short as possible haha! Here we go!

What to Pack in your Hospital Bag

Shannon Jenkins of Upbeat Soles talks about what to pack in your hopital bag when having a baby like delivery gown, chapstick, nursing bras, etc

Happy Hump Day loves! Usually I am excited to get closer to the weekend but today is the last day of Griffin’s paternity leave so I am less than thrilled about it to say the least haha! It has been so nice having him off the past two weeks and we have definitely made a good team so pray for me when it is just me and baby Sawyer to fend for ourselves haha! So today I am talking about what I packed in my hospital bag. I did a lot of research on this and tried to not over pack too much and I think I packed the perfect amount! Griffin and I shared a big bag and then I packed Sawyer’s baby bag for him. Also notice big sister really wanted to help pack ;p

Mom’s Bag:

2 sets of button up PJ’s (perfect for nursing)

Delivery Gown (loved this one! Buttons in the back making it perfect if you get an epidural)

Robe (I actually ended up not wearing this, but planned on wearing it for pictures)

Going home outfit (something loose and comfortable)

No skid socks

Make up and curling iron/straightener (if you plan on doing hospital pictures)

Toiletries (own shampoo, face wash, body wash, etc)

Flip Flops (for the shower)

Underwear (I recommend black (won’t show stains) briefs like these)

Chapstick

Nuring Bras

Boppy

Nipple Butter (a must if planning to nurse!)

Camera, Laptop, Chargers

Snacks

Prenatal Vitamins

Dad’s Bag:

2-4 changes of clothes

PJ’s

Underwear

Toiletries

Flip Flops

Extra Blanket

Baby’s Bag:

Diaper Bag

Going home outfit

3 PJ’s in different sizes (I brought preemie, Newborn, 0-3 months, he ended up in the preemie!)

Wipes (highly recommend! Our hospital only had dry cotton wipes that did not work well on those first poops!)

Socks

Carseat

Swaddle set  (for pictures, hat & swaddle)

Any photo props like a letter board
