Happy hump day loves! So glad it is already Wednesday because I am exhausted! I need a vacation from my vacation! ;) We did sooooo much in the 4 short days we were in DC and soooooo much walking! My legs are still sore! It was amazing to visit close friends we hadn’t seen in awhile and catch up and have wayyyyy too much fun together! Definitely pooped but so worth it! I actually didn’t take nearly as many pictures as I would have liked (we only took out our nice camera for one day) but at least I got enough for you to get the picture of how GORGEOUS DC is! I seriously fell in love with this city! The architecture, the history, the food, everything is just amazing! I also couldn’t believe how clean the city is for such a big city! Nothing like New York haha! I also loved how there are so many sections to explore, from Georgetown, Downtown, to Chinatown! There is just a little bit of everything! The Iwo Jima Memorial (above) is definitely breathtaking and we got to walk by it every morning since it was right next to my friends’ apartment! And yes that is me taking an Instagram picture of it in the bottom left! ;p
The Lincoln Memorial is just as amazing as I remembered, I hadn’t been to DC in 13 years! We also went by Ford’s Theater where Lincoln was shot and the house he died in that is across the street, but I was bad and only got pictures of that on snapchat! Haha! Be sure to follow me @upbeatsoles! ;)
The gorgeous Arlington Cemetery. We went early in the morning when it was still a tad foggy which made it look extra pretty!
The National Archives where the Decoration of Independence is displayed. We got close to it but opted out on the hour wait to walk by it! No thanks! The replica in the room next door will do!
Seriously could not get enough of Georgetown! It is the most quaint little city with the BEST shopping and restaurants! What else can you ask for?!
Friday night we went to a Nationals vs Giants game. Honestly, I couldn’t even tell you who won. It sprinkled the entire game so you found all the girls at the covered bar!
One of the highlights of the trip was seeing Judy Garland’s ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz. I hadn’t seen them as an adult so I was super excited and for people who know me well know I have an obsession with the Wizard of Oz. I basically grew up in gingham and blame the movie for my shoe obsession.
The Washington Monument. It was so cool that this monument is seen from pretty much anywhere in downtown! Great for when you have no idea where you are!
The Jefferson Memorial was definitely my favorite! Inside is a huge statue of Thomas Jefferson with quotes all around the walls. We also couldn’t get over that he lived to be 83! Isn’t that like a million without modern medicine?!
Getting to see the fireworks over the monuments was definitely one for the books! So beautiful! This was also steps from my friends’ apartment so we didn’t even have to fight the crowds!
And I will leave you with a classic tourist pic! ;) DC you were good to us and I cannot wait to go back! <3
