Happy Hump Day loves! So as you all know Griffin and I had a little staycation this week over in Sarasota County. It was my first time visiting Sarasota since I was super young and I forgot how breathtaking the west coast of Florida is! We arrived early afternoon and decided to get a kick start to our day with some coffee from Perq Coffee Bar. Definitely a cute place with lot of different freshly brewed options. Also, how fun is that chandelier!?
Next we headed to Downtown Sarasota where they had a nice farmers market going on. We explored then hit up Boca for lunch. I am not a huge salad person but it was probably one of the freshest, most delicious salad ever! Also, their eggs Benedict flat bread was on point! The decor is so cute and rustic with everything being fresh farm to table! Definitely a must if you’re in the area!
After lunch Griffin and I decided to check out some of the local breweries. JDub’s happened to have an Oktoberfest event going on so it was fun seeing everyone dressed up in the German getups! Also of course their beer was tasty! After JDub’s we swung over to Calusa Brewing. We have never heard of this brewery before but happened to be on or way to our hotel so we stopped in and I am so glad we did! It was probably some of the best beer I have had in awhile and a lot of unique flavors, which I love! They had a milk stout with mint and it was soooo amazing!
After checking out the breweries we checked into our hotel in Venice (just south of Sarasota) and then headed down to Downtown Venice to check out their Shoptember event! There are so many cute and quaint gift shops, boutiques, ice cream shops, and restaurants! They even have a Kilwin’s Chocolate shop! Yum!! My favorite shops we went into was La Bella Interiors, which had the most gorgeous coastal inspired home decor! They even had a chandelier made of oyster shells that was insanely gorgeous! Also the Artisans that lots of unique jewelry and home decor!
After doing a little shopping and snacking we headed down to Venice Beach for the sunset. It is crazy how calm the beaches are on the west coast! There is only a light breeze with super small and peaceful waves. I am from Ormond Beach on the East coast and I am so used to going to the beach and getting blown over it’s so windy ha! Also the beach has a bunch of adorable colorful lifeguard stands! After the sunset we headed to the Crow’s Nest for an amazing dinner on the water! It was another delicious meal with fresh seafood!
Sunday morning we headed down to Englewood to check out their shops for the Shoptember event on Dearbon Street. There were lot’s of super cute antique shops but unfortunately a lot of them are closed on Sunday’s so I definitely recommend checking them out Saturday or during the week. I really wanted to check out Vino Loco that is suppose to have the best wine and cheese selection! We also found another cute coffee shop called Joe Maxx and per Griffin their cold brew was delish!
After doing some morning shopping we headed back up to Sarasota to check out some of the attractions. First we headed to Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, which was absolutely breath taking!! The property is huge with multiple different sections. They even have a rainforest section with huge trees with buttress roots, also a bamboo section with a koi pond, and a green house with a bunch of beautiful orchids!
On the garden’s property is also the historic Payne Mansion and butterfly garden that you can go in and tour! If you love gardens and nature this is a definite must do!
The last thing on our agenda was to check out The Ringling, which is the property owned by John Ringling one of the 5 brothers who started the Ringling Circus. On the property is his Mansion, Ca’ D’zan, Circus Museum, and John Ringling’s Art Museum. The Circus Museum was so neat seeing all of the old train cars used that you always see in old photos and learning the history of how he became a multi millionaire just by starting a traveling circus!
He and his wife Mable called their mansion the Ca’ D’zan which was designed from their love of Venetian architecture. It definitely makes you feel like your in Italy! Even more when you go to his Art Museum! From all of his travels John starting collection art so hey why not build an amazing art museum to display it! They even have a replica of David in the garden and statues around the top of the building that definitely seemed to replicate the statues at the Vatican. It was insanely beautiful!
After exploring the gorgeous Ringling property we had a quick lunch then headed home from our fun filled weekend!<3
