Happy hump day babes! Today I am super excited because I am doing my very first hair tutorial! One of the most common questions I get on my blog is how I curl my hair and get my beach like waves, what products I use, etc, so ya’ll it is finally here! Of course when you are curling your hair it is super important to have a good curling iron! It honestly makes all the difference in the hold of your curls! My absolutely FAVORITE curling iron is my NuMe Lustrum curling wand set! It is basically five irons in one with five interchangeable wands, a 19 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm, 13-25 mm tapered, and pearl wands! It is basically the badass of all curling wands! Also, it gets to 410 degrees so it curls your hair in half the time and holds the curl so well I can even sleep on them and my hair is still curly the next day, which is saying a lot with my naturally stick straight hair! I honestly can’t rave enough about my NuMe iron AND, are you all ready for this?! They are offering 40% off site wide (excluding seasonal catalog) for my readers here with code LOVESHANNON or $100 off any styling set here with code PINKORCHID! If you are in the market for new irons, I highly recommend you take advantage since these irons will last you forever! You won’t regret it! :) Ok enough chit chat! On to these beach waves!
First step, sectioning your hair. I start just above my ears since my hair is super fine, but if you have thicker hair I suggest you start a little below your ears, just so the layer is not super thick. Then section your first layer into three separate sections, like seen above.
Second, spray each of the three sections with a good coat of hairspray! Beware, I use a lot of hairspray because my hair is naturally super straight and fine, but if your hair holds curl very well you could always skip this step. My favorite hairspray to use is the TREsemme Extra Firm Control because it really helps lock in the curl and doesn’t leave my hair crunchy, also you can’t beat the price!
Next, take your curling iron (I am using my 25 mm NuMe wand) and curl your first section of hair away from your face with the iron pointing downwards. I curl my hair away from my face every time, although some people like to alternate. I have tried both ways and don’t see a difference, so whichever is easiest for you! Sidenote: What ever you do, do not lay your hair flat against the iron while wrapping it. This will give you an ugly barrel like curl that doesn’t look natural. Just hold tight to the end of your hair and let it naturally twist around the barrel for a nice natural curl.
Repeat this process layer by layer letting your hair part naturally on the top layer. Also a helpful tip, I like to pull my curled hair back in a loose ponytail so when I let down my hair to make the next layer the already curled hair doesn’t get mixed in with the straight hair. That way you don’t get the stragglers you accidentally forgot to curl!
When you are all done curling every layer and section your hair might look something like this, super piecey and a little flat! womp womp! Don’t worry! It’s floofing time!
Take your hairspray and spray the crap out of it! I like to put my head upside down and side to side floofing (not sure if I made that word up?) my hair with my hand to break up the curls and give my hair more volume. You may or may not have huge, crazy hair after this, but it’s ok because it will fall in about 10 minutes and be just right! ;)
Volia! You’re done! With my NuMe iron this seriously only takes me 15 minutes to do! Give or take if you have thicker hair! I hope these tips were helpful and let me know if you have any other questions and don’t forget to check out the amazing NuMe deals above! I also made a pinnable image below for a little summary because I am cool like that! ;) I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! <3
